ALEX MIRABEL
Coach Alex Mirabel
Coach Alex Mirabel is the Head Basketball Coach at St. Peter's Prep in Jersey City, New Jersey, and serves as a coach with the Dominican Republic National Team. Throughout his coaching career, he has developed numerous high-level student-athletes who have gone on to compete at the NCAA Division I, professional, and international levels.
Among the players he has coached are Mark Armstrong, St. Peter's Prep's all-time leading scorer and current member of the Villanova University basketball team; Richie Rosa (Rider University); Mason Santiago (St. Peter's University); and Dominican standouts Joel Soriano (St. John's University), Reggie Louis (St. John's University), Lester Quiñones (Golden State Warriors), Justin Minaya (Portland Trail Blazers), Chris Duarte (Sacramento Kings), Rafael Castro, and Jean Montero, one of Europe's rising professional stars.
Coach Mirabel has been recognized as a seven-time Hudson County Coach of the Year by various media organizations. He is widely respected for his basketball knowledge, player development, and commitment to mentoring young athletes. His coaching philosophy emphasizes discipline, accountability, leadership, and character, helping prepare players for success both on and off the court.
In addition to coaching, Coach Mirabel is a Physical Education teacher at St. Peter's Prep, where he works with students to promote health, fitness, teamwork, and lifelong wellness. His passion for education complements his commitment to developing student-athletes into well-rounded young men.
Coach Mirabel earned his Bachelor's Degree in History from New Jersey City University and his Master's Degree in Special Education from Grand Canyon University.
Coach Mirabel and his wife reside in Jersey City, New Jersey, where they are proud parents of three daughters and one son. Whether in the classroom, on the basketball court, or in the community, Coach Mirabel is dedicated to inspiring the next generation through education, mentorship, and the game of basketball.
